First of all, I'm picking up the slack and documenting my post-boxing day sale finds. I didn't spend too much, but I did spend more than I should have considering the lack of funds coming in my general direction. Sigh.

With that I bought another black cardigan for $9.95 from those semi-cheap shops that sell all the same junk. I now have the same cardigan in black, blue, purple and grey (they're too good a staple item of clothing to refuse).

In other news, the boyfriend gave me these as a late Christmas present. Swooooooon:

Hopefully everyone had a pretty sweet, memorable, eventful New Years. Mine was kind of a hit-and-miss. I don't really understand the appeal of New Years Eve and the whole day I didn't really plan on doing anything or going anywhere. BUT! My best friend came to stay the night and we didn't want to be stuck at home, so we headed out to meet my boyfriend and his pals at a house party on Bridge Road, hosted by Ryan Wheatley, Chelsea and one more housemate who I've forgotten! It was an intimate little party and pretty amusing seeing alot of people hopped up on acid. But anyway. The countdown was good. The kiss was good. The hugs going around was good. I don't think my friend was feeling it though...so we pretty much home by 1.30am, or 2am.

Tonight I'm heading out to St. Kilda to see Fleet Foxes at the Prince Bandroom :)

Hopefully everyone had a suuuper lovely Christmas filled with gifts, fun times, full stomachs and the like. This year my family and I decided we'd settle on doing Kris Kringle since we (mainly me) are fairly broke this year. I ended up getting my older a Country Road bag since his work bag is all tattered and not as nice as the one I picked out ;)

I also 'spoiled' (his words, not mine) my boyfriend and got him a ticket to Santogold and 'Sneakers: The Complete Collectors' Guide'.

I received cash, L'Occitane moisturiser which is heaveeeen on my skin, perfume and a speaker dock thing that I can plug my iPhone into and listen to tunes. Happy.

Anyway, it being holidays and all...my lazy factor has been upped tenfold. I went to bed at 4.30AM last night based on me believing sleep is just way too boring. Getting up at 1.30PM today, there was no way I was going to battle the heat and crowds to snag myself a bargain in the Boxing Day sales. No thanks. Instead, I got up and spent five hours cleaning my room. Dusting, rearranging, vacuuming, changing sheets, throwing away hauls of junk. Now I am completely exhausted but I feel so much better and I can't help but slowly turn my head away from the laptop and admire my hard, hard work (Big apologies for the lack of clothes/fashion related posts. I'm without a digital camera and my iPhone takes terrible photos):

I'm making an actual effort now to get this thing back on track (if it weren't for Emma's post of course). It's been a good six months of non-blogging on my part (although I still occasionally post on my Tumblr) so I haven't moved anywhere completely isolated! IN FACT, I still pretty much visit/browse/admire/lurk my favourite fashion blogs weekly; I'm just way too slack to keep up mine. But things will change around here (yay for holidays!).

So.

I am finally 19, as of today. It's daunting but I'm going to ignore all the grandma taunts I've been receiving and make the most of it ;) Today I woke up to a big breakfast, lazed around and had lunch with the family. I received Kate Moss perfume from my sister and money from the parentals which I'll be spending on more said perfume, and a Holga starter kit! Yay.

I also treated myself to some online shopping (the last time for awhile because I have around $5 left in my Paypal account, sigh):

Beach House - Devotion. One of my favourite releases of this year, and only $15 (incl. postage and handling) via Mistletone!

This vintage polka dot dress via Nerdburger. I realised my wardrobe lacks anything white OR pink, so this is a nice change from florals, I think.

Also, my granny boots came in the mail yesterday! I was so anxious that they wouldn't fit, but amazingly, they fit me perfectly. I like to believe it was fate ;)

Edit: The other week I went shopping and bought more things!

This was originally going to be a 'latest purchases' post but I can't be bothered taking any photos today I am that exhausted. Instead I'm going to show you exactly what I want for my birthday which is in exactly a week! I am feeling admittedly anxious about turning 19.

I love this alot. The other day a friendly lady at Myer sprayed a whole heap on my wrist and I was eating my wrist all night. She also sprayed the scent on one of those ribbons and I can't stop playing with it.

Okay I've thought about it and I mostly want this.

I can't help myself, I really just can't. I blame the exams and staying in my room studying, (or browsing Etsy more like). Soon after my last post, I bought this dress. How could I refuse all the glorious florally (I really hope that is a word...) goodness?

Can you tell I really miss Spring? I do love Winter, don't get me wrong. Rugging up and disappearing under big warm coats and jumpers whilst walking in the rain is my favourite past time, it really is.

Then! Oh, am I excited about these booties. You know when you see something you can't decide on but then you can't stop thinking about them? That was me, after I viewed and favourited these. I've been hanging for a pair of granny boots for the longest while. I even dreamt about them last night. They are half a size bigger than what I usually wear but I'm hoping and praying they will be okay. Goodwiu was kind and wonderful enough to put these on reserve for me as I get my Paypal account in order (nothing is worse than realising you're a few dollars short...nothing).

I also like these loafers and these cute mini wedges.

Latest purchase!

I haven't been shopping in the longest while and I feel abit empty inside...sad, right? Even with all the sales currently on, exams are keeping me from being tempted (which I love/hate). I'm on my study break at the moment, and couldn't think of anything better to do than browse Etsy, yet again (and of course update this neglected blog).

Anyhow, I found this gem of a dress, and purchased it instantly for $30AU from muskakovintage. Definitely check them out, they have some great vintage goodies for reaaaally good prices.

I'm really missing Spring and Summer and having not to worry about layering and feeling bulky underneath all the clothes. I want to slip on a dress and shoes and walk out the door and be instantly drenched in the sun. I want light cardigan weather and nice breezes again.

Today I managed to wake up two hours late for class. I hate hate hate being late.

So I threw this together in ten minutes, hence the lack of colour. Led Zeppelin tee from Speed Boy Girl, skirt from Supre (yeah, it's the one they imitated from AA), black Bonds tights and Kmart runners. The weather was seriously so great that I walked around without a jacket.

Then! I went into Big W and stumbled upon these amazingly thick $14.98 jumpers for men. The largest size would have been perfect to wear as a baggy, knitted dress but it was way, way too short. So I settled for a small, I think it will be okay with skinny jeans.

Also, my adorable little carpet bag came today! All the way from Hawaii, with a complimentary lolly necklace. I love it. A special thank you to My Orange Crush.

Today I decided against uni (yet again..) and instead met up with a pal who gave me Band of Horses' Everything All The Time as well as Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins' Rabbit Fur Coat for only $10. So I bought him one of those delicious Belgian chocolate cupcakes from Little Cupcakes as a sign of gratitude but also because I felt I was practically stealing the albums from his hands.

Afterward I was really determined to shop. This next part may sound ridiculous and make me seem really gullible but: my horoscope basically told me to snag all the bargains I could, otherwise I would regret it terribly. Now I'm not one to allow little tidbits of probably false information and advice dictate my life, but hey, anything for an excuse to shop, right?

However, after 4 hours of walking and my knees driving me insane, I found absolutely nothing. I tried on a fair few clothes as well but always found something to make me decide against it. For instance, this deep emerald green cardigan which I adored but it was a size too big:

And! This is terrible phone-picture-quality but I found these navy blue pants (which also came in cream) in MYL, that designer clearance store in The Walk Arcade. They were too big as well, which was so unfortunate because they were such an amazing pair of pants. It had this really subtle yet unique, in a sense, detail on the back calf area as well. And they were only $60! Sigh.

Again I've been terribly slack with my outfit posts. I'm not at all ready for the colder season and all I've been wearing of late are dresses or skirts with stockings and my fake leather jacket.

A list of things I need (want as well, but more so need):

Exams are coming up as well. I haven't even thought of beginning to study and yet they brood in the back of my mind, making everything slightly less enjoyable :(

FOR SALE!

I've done some impulse buys that I now regret after not really thinking them through. So here they are on sale. If you like what you see, bargain with me, I'm weak!

I bought this vintage cowgirl inspired dress from Etsy, only to have it not fit me right: Cute Western Inspired Cowgirl dress. Size 9/10. Button flap front pocket and front closure details. Western detailed buttons on the front and cuffs. Back zipper and button accents. Attached bottom skirt is a flannel western print wrap style skirt. Elastic waistline. Great vintage condition!

These vintage boots are from Speed Boy Girl in Degraves. I realised there was no way I could pull them off after I went home with them. They're in good condition, with a few minimal tears on the interior lining of the boots, nothing serious. The tag on them said a 7 1/2, but I think that's the mens size. It was a teeny bit big for me and I'm a size 8-8 1/2.

Today: I hopped on the tram, intending to go to uni when it started pouring down with rain. I sat there for about two stops, thinking how miserable the one-hour tram ride will be, followed by sitting in a one-hour class most probably daydreaming instead of listening, then finally getting back on the tram and sitting in peak hour traffic. So instead, I stepped back onto the drenched streets, put on my hood and wandered (shopped) the city.

Wearing: said hooded faux-leather jacket from DFO, a floral dress from Sportsgirl and tights from Target or wherever.

I've got my digital camera working again, yay to that.

My Sufjan Stevens tee came in the mail today, with two complimentary Asthmatic Kitty samplers. They are great, and it was only $19US all up. Amazing. I can't wait to wear it.

I bought this amazing faux-leather jacket last week or so, from a shop in DFO (one of those shops that sells exactly the same kind of clothes as all the others). It's hooded too. That's an automatic win in my books.

Yesterday I finally bought Cheap Monday jeans from 'That Store' on Chapel Street. I've been hanging for a new pair of jeans for awhile now. I just need to get these altered and I'm set. Although I wore them today and did feel like a robot.

After this purchase I bumped into these two lovely girls from France, who've been living in Sydney for a month and were down visiting Melbourne. They asked me for directions and it was like instant girl-crush, they had the best accents in the world and as we chatted I discovered they were in Sydney working for Collette Dinnigan and Willow. Impressive.

Back on track, today I went back to Speed Boy Girl on Degraves and bought this top I've been eyeing off for ages. I decided to take the plunge and it was such a great idea as well because it was reduced almost half price! Yay.

I'm wearing; my jeweled pocket watch from a nice man, a basic grey tee from Supre and a hand me down purple skirt from my sister (that in all honesty I may or may not have actually stolen). I'm in love with the skirt, and it's got this nice red and green sequined belt/ribbon thing.

Today I received this cowgirl-dress in the mail from Sweet Water Vintage, a lovely seller on Etsy.

The thing is, I tried it on and there is no way I can pull this off. It's impossible. So if you'd like to purchase it off me for a cheap cheap price, email me! The shirt part of the dress fits like a modern day 11 or 12, while the skirt fits like a size 8 or 9.

help! laundry advice and tips needed

So I have this lovely little vintage-fused skirt (left) from Subject to Change:

But mixed with my over-paranoia of having to have clean clothes plus my laziness, I ruined it in the wash. It now looks like this:

The colours from the green panels have run through the stripes and vintage apples, wrecking the whole thing. I'm too afraid to put it back through the wash, or even give it a hand wash. I spoke to the lovely man who made it (he works at STC on Fridays), and he said it was completely fixable and he was going to replace the material for me. HOWEVER, he thought I meant the colours of the apples had run, not the green panels themselves :(

The only thing he ultimately could reccommend me do was take it to the dry cleaners, and see what they come up with. Does anyone have another alternative (email me! oaht.thao at hot or gmail dot com), before I run off to the dry cleaners? I just have this terrible feeling they might wreck it even more..
